
The Slim-hole MWD System is miniaturized series developed to meet the needs of small borehole operation. The overall outer diameter is reduced to 38mm, significantly reducing circulation pressure loss and casing erosion. The system features flexible joint design, improving overall instrument passability, suitable for sidetracking in old wells and slim-hole short-radius directional drilling operations.

In 2024, the system was deployed in 8 wells in the Zhongyuan work area, with cumulative footage of 5900m and total working time of 2007h. Addressing objective factors in the Wenmingzhai block wells (Ming45-side2, Ming227-side1, Wen213-9-side1) such as casing deformation, severe casing wall corrosion and wear, high annular friction, small sidetrack target radius, limited controllable vertical depth, large displacement in long open hole sections, and trajectory control difficulties, the System effectively solved challenges related to limited flow range in small boreholes and poor instrument passage, effectively increasing drilling speed and shortening well construction cycles.
On September 12, 2024, the System reached maximum drilling depth of 7363m in Yuanba 2-2H well in the Southwest work area, with maximum bottom hole temperature of 140°C, working continuously and stably for 283h, completing the operation in two trips.
